Who am I?
I’m Ben Smith. I grew up on the shoreline in Connecticut and currently reside in East Haddam, along the Connecticut River, with my wife and young son.
My thoughts on taking pictures:
We are overwhelmed with pictures these days, they are a part of our daily life. It’s easy to take them for granted, but they remain something very special and unique. They are literally a snapshot of a sliver of time, something that was what it was. They are a permanent reminder of what it was like in that very moment. I have been fascinated by this aspect of photography since before digital cameras, and I absolutely love being able to do it. I try my best to capture the essence of not only that sliver of time, but of the person or people in front of the camera. If we can have a few laughs throughout the process, then I call that a good day…
